As an FWI employee assigned to this contract, this position serves as NOAA's first-line point of contact with the U.S. EPA, GAO, and other federal agencies on GLRI matters, and provides program coordination, reporting, and communications support to ensure the initiative's goals are met.

  • Serve as NOAA's primary point of contact with U.S. EPA, GAO, and other federal agencies/departments on GLRI matters.
  • Plan and chair GLRI meetings for principal investigators, the NOAA GLRI Working Group, and the Steering Committee; distribute regular updates.
  • Represent NOAA on the EPA-led GLRI Communications Committee.
  • Oversee quarterly project reporting and complete all GLAS reporting updates within established deadlines.
  • Review, synthesize, and prepare information requested by EPA and/or Congress, often under short deadlines.
  • Provide technical reviewer expertise for select GLRI projects and grant awards; support NOAA's internal annual funding competition.
  • Maintain GLRI outreach, education, and communications activities, including social media, the GLRCT website, and program documentation.
  • Provide meeting and working-group support to the Great Lakes Regional Collaboration Team (GLRCT).

  • Working knowledge of NOAA's core programs and Great Lakes priorities and issues, or demonstrated ability to acquire this knowledge quickly.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a diverse, multi-disciplinary team.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including experience with social and web-based communication tools.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and experience managing multiple, competing deadlines.
