Controller – Construction Industry (Onsite | Orange County, CA)A well-established construction firm in Orange County is seeking a hands-on Controller to lead all accounting, payroll, HR administration, and compliance functions. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys owning the entire accounting function, and is comfortable working onsite.Key ResponsibilitiesAccounting & Finance• Oversee full-cycle accounting, including AP, AR, payroll, bank reconciliations, and general ledger management• Manage job costing, retention, WIP schedules, and percent-complete revenue recognition• Prepare monthly financial statements, cash flow reports, and supporting schedules• Maintain fixed asset and depreciation schedules• Perform month-end close, accruals, amortizations, and account reconciliations• Support annual audits, 401k audits, and 5500 reportingPayroll & HR Administration• Process payroll using an integrated construction payroll system (Raken or similar)• Manage certified payroll, DIR reporting, OCIP compliance, wage verifications, and per diem checks• Oversee onboarding and offboarding, including E-Verify, background checks, and related compliance• Manage benefits administration, renewals, deductions, and employee recordkeeping• Administer 401k uploads, reporting, and annual compliance requirementsCompliance & Risk Management• Ensure all city, state, and project-specific licenses and certifications remain active and compliant• Manage insurance renewals including GL, workers’ compensation, and policy documentation• Oversee contract compliance, billing requirements, safety documentation, and project-related paperwork• Handle Levelset lien notices, releases, and COI requestsOffice & Operational Support• Track and reconcile company credit cards, receipts, and job cost allocations• Manage weekly check runs, vendor communications, and procurement-related documentation• Maintain office supplies, mail handling, and general operations supportQualifications• 5 years of progressive accounting experience in the construction industry• Strong working knowledge of QuickBooks Enterprise (Construction Edition) – REQUIRED• Experience with Raken, Rippling, Levelset, and certified payroll systems strongly preferred• Strong Excel skills including pivot tables and data reconciliation• Ability to manage sensitive information with integrity and confidentiality• Highly detail-oriented, organized, and able to multitask in a fast-paced environment• Strong written and verbal communication skills• Notary Public certification is a plusSchedule• Full-time, onsite• Monday – Friday• 7:30 am – 4:30 pm#STWI
