Overview
The Tennessee Immigrant and Refugee Rights Coalition (TIRRC) is hiring a multicultural community organizer to work with our organizing team to identify and develop leadership in diverse immigrant and refugee communities, identify pressing issues and opportunities to organize in these communities, and connect individuals to TIRRC's existing services, campaigns, and leadership development opportunities. Ideal candidates are established leaders within immigrant and refugee communities in Tennessee, with strong relationships and deep networks, who have strong communication and organizational skills to identify and develop leadership in diverse immigrant and refugee communities.

Responsibilities
Community Education
- Lead community education campaigns to ensure that immigrant and refugee communities have accurate and timely information about policy changes that impact the lives of their community;
- Lead outreach efforts to ensure that immigrant and refugee communities have information about and access to TIRRC's services and leadership development opportunities.
- Hold individual and group meetings to deepen relationships, identify community leaders, and identify important issues affecting the community;
- Build a base of engaged leaders from diverse immigrant and refugee communities who can inform and lead TIRRC's advocacy campaigns;
- Facilitate the engagement of immigrant and refugee leaders, organizations, and communities in civic engagement efforts and in TIRRC's issue advocacy campaigns;
- Lead mobilization efforts to increase participation of diverse immigrant and refugee communities in TIRRC events and actions.
- Represent TIRRC at community events, in the media, and with other organizations as needed;
- Ensure all data is maintained in the organizational database;
- Participate in significant organizational events;
- Recruit dues-paying individual and organizational members to join TIRRC.
- Belief in TIRRC's mission and experience with social justice;
- Fluency in English required and fluency or working proficiency in another language spoken by TIRRC's constituencies required;
- Demonstrated ability to work on deadline, be highly organized, work with little supervision, and maintain accountability and strong communication with others in collaborative projects;
- Demonstrated ability to work and communicate effectively with people of diverse backgrounds, and to build and maintain relationships with partners;
- Demonstrated ability and comfort with public speaking;
- Experience with community organizing and outreach preferred;
- Availability to work flexible hours, including some nights, weekends, and travel statewide;
- Must have reliable transportation.
- Hourly Rate: $23/hour for 15-30 hours/week
- Benefits: All employees receive 24/7 access to an Employee Assistance Program. In addition, part-time employees receive paid sick time commensurate with the number of hours worked.
