What are the responsibilities and job description for the Senior Software Engineer position at FutureTech Recruitment?
Founding Engineer
San Francisco (Onsite)
$230k–$280k base equity
About the company
FutureTech Recruitment is partnered with an early-stage financial infrastructure company building modern programmable money rails for global businesses.
The platform provides developer-first APIs that abstract away legacy payment complexity, enabling faster settlement, lower costs, and global reach. The company is post-product, pre-scale, with committed enterprise customers already live and meaningful transaction volume flowing through the system.
Founded by repeat operators with deep experience scaling regulated financial platforms, the team recently closed a Seed round from top-tier investors and is focused on building durable, long-term infrastructure rather than chasing short-term growth optics.
About the role
They’re hiring a Founding Engineer to help design and build the core systems underpinning the platform. This is a true early hire role with end-to-end ownership across architecture, implementation, and production reliability.
You’ll work directly with the founding team and early customers, translating real operational requirements into robust, scalable systems in a high-trust, in-person environment.
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and operate full-stack services and customer-facing features from concept through production
- Architect event-driven, highly available systems that handle financial workflows, state, and reconciliation
- Build core primitives for ledgering, compliance workflows, and risk-aware transaction processing
- Partner closely with customers to understand edge cases and iterate quickly
- Make pragmatic technical decisions balancing speed, correctness, and long-term scalability
- Own production reliability for critical systems with zero tolerance for silent failure
Requirements
- 3–8 years of experience building production systems in fintech, payments, or regulated infrastructure
- Strong systems thinking and comfort owning ambiguous problem spaces
- Proficient in at least two of: TypeScript/Next.js, Go, Python, C#
- Hands-on builder mindset — excited to ship, debug, and operate what you build
- Comfortable working closely with non-technical stakeholders and customers
Why this role
- Founding-level ownership at a financial infrastructure company with real-world usage
- Direct exposure to core architecture and business-critical systems
- Opportunity to shape the engineering culture, standards, and roadmap from day one
- Competitive compensation and meaningful equity
- In-person team in San Francisco focused on shipping high-quality systems fast
