About the Role:
The Mechanical Engineer will lead the design and coordination of HVAC systems for commercial and institutional building projects while collaborating closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams, architects, contractors, and clients. This role offers exposure to projects ranging from airports and healthcare facilities to higher education campuses, hospitality developments, office interiors, retail spaces, and municipal infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities:
• Design HVAC systems for commercial, institutional, healthcare, and industrial projects
• Perform HVAC load calculations, energy analysis, life cycle cost evaluations, and system selection
• Develop design solutions for VAV systems and central plant systems
• Coordinate closely with architects, engineers, owners, and project stakeholders throughout all phases of design and construction
• Ensure designs comply with IBC, ASHRAE standards, energy codes, and sustainability requirements
• Prepare and review construction documents, specifications, and engineering calculations
• Support multidisciplinary coordination efforts to ensure high-quality, code-compliant project delivery
• Participate in client meetings, project discussions, and technical presentations
• Contribute to sustainable and energy-efficient building design strategies
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Architectural Engineering
• 5 years of HVAC design experience within commercial or industrial construction projects
• Strong understanding of HVAC systems, load calculations, energy codes, ASHRAE standards, and building codes
• Experience designing VAV systems and central plant systems for institutional and commercial facilities
• Plumbing and/or fire protection design knowledge is a plus
• Proficiency with AutoCAD and/or Revit
• Experience with energy modeling software such as Trane Trace, Carrier HAP, or similar tools
• Commercial building design experience required
• PE license preferred
