What are the responsibilities and job description for the Import / Export Coordinator position at Future Electronics?
Position Overview:
The Import/Export Coordinator will be responsible for managing all aspects of the Import/Export Trade Compliance Program such as: auditing and correcting import entries, customs broker management, approving and auditing service provider payables, managing the ITAR portal and customer participation, creating export documents and shipments for manual mailroom items and international drop shipments. The Import/Export Coordinator will need to operate as a productive member of the Memphis Area Distribution Center (MADC) team, as well as the Global Trade Compliance teams.
Strong communication skills, import and export regulatory knowledge, process re-engineering and project coordination are essential skills required for this position.
Responsibilities:
Duties will include but are not limited to the following:
- Audit import shipments for HTS classification, country of origin, valuation as outlined by departmental SOPs.
- Implement and manage the customs correction process for import entries.
- Respond and manage all queries from customs brokers in order to ensure shipments clear in a timely manner.
- Monitor broker performance score cards.
- Provide import/export statistical data as required.
- Maintain records in accordance with US customs regulations.
- Provide compliance training as required.
- Maintain and amend US Import Compliance Manual.
- Create export documentation for International drop shipments and mailroom manual exports.
- Apply for and maintain records for ITAR and Commerce Dept. export licenses.
- Assist the Export Administration team with occasional late shift coverage.
What we are looking for:
- High school diploma/GED, college preferred
- Minimum of two years’ experience in US import/export operations
- Knowledge of Trade Compliance “best practices” specifically in regards to US export regulations
- Basic understanding of US Customs import requirements
- Strong typing and computer skills
- Excellent customer service skills required
- Must work well in a team environment
- Must be a self-starter
- Intermediate skill level required for MS Office applications
Working Conditions:
- Office area with a requirement to go to the DC floor at various points during the day
- Office hours may be 08:30 to 17:30 with 60 minutes for lunch
