We are seeking an individual that is skilled and experienced as a layout technician in the fabrication sector of the manufacturing process. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
· Inspect aerospace components, assemblies, fixtures, and tooling for fit, alignment, contour accuracy, and tolerance compliance.
· Break down customer CAD models, engineering prints, and build requirements into clear, understandable fabrication instructions.
· Analyze and interpret customer 3D/2D data to create layout guides, templates, reference points, and shop-ready documentation.
· Program 3D/2D cutting machines within designated software.
· Work directly with fitters, fabricators, engineering, and quality personnel to ensure accurate part layout and build flow.
· Review CAD models using Rhino and manage customer data through Enovia.
· Validate tolerances, dimensions, and critical features before work is released to the shop floor.
· Communicate technical requirements clearly and confidently to fabrication teams.
· Maintain organized file structures, job packets, revisions, and customer data throughout all stages of build.
· Support shop-floor troubleshooting related to layout interpretation, fit-up, and print accuracy.
· Organize and maintain records.
Qualifications:
· 5 years fitting experience in aerospace fabrication, precision assembly, or high-tolerance manufacturing.
· 5 years of general CAD experience.
· Knowledge of GD&T and high-precision layout practices.
· Strong ability to reach and break down complex engineering drawings and customer models.
· Excellent communication skills – must be able to convey technical information clearly to the shop floor personnel.
· Highly organized, able to manage multiple jobs, deadlines, and customer revision cycles.
· Solid understanding of fabrication sequencing, layout principles, and shop-floor workflow.
· Knowledge of best practices in manufacturing.
· Excellent attention to detail and critical thinking skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
· Aerospace fabrication or large-scale tooling experience.
· 5 years CAD experience, including strong proficiency in:
o Rhino (3D modeling and inspection workflows)
o Enovia (Data Tolerance Review and other various modules)
· Ability to troublesheet G-code
· Strong problem solving ability with a proactive approach to supporting fabrication teams.
· Strong communication skills and ability to resolve issues collaboratively.
· Skilled in Microsoft Excel and Word.
