Job Summary:
The Weekend Circulation Supervisor keeps Furman's libraries running smoothly on Saturdays and Sundays. This role coordinates building operations for the Duke Library and ensures that the Maxwell Music Library and Sanders Science Library are fully operational..
Regular hours are Saturday and Sunday, 10 a.m.-5 p.m. during fall and spring semesters, starting at $18.00 per hour, with occasional schedule adjustments during exams or special events.
Job Description:
Responsibilities

Coordinate and supervise library building operations on weekends, including opening and closing procedures for Duke Library, and ensure Maxwell Music Library and Sanders Science Library are fully operational.

Supervise, assign tasks to, and mentor student assistants on weekends in collaboration with the Coordinator for Circulation and Research Services.

Provide patron assistance with locating materials, directions to other campus locations, and referrals to research services.

Supervise circulation services, including check-in/check-out, patron account management, issuing cards, and resolving access issues.

Coordinate stacks maintenance (shelving, shelf reading, shifting).

Maintain library equipment (printers, scanners, microform readers).

Process interlibrary loan requests during peak times.
- Monitor public areas for safety and security, reporting concerns to Facilities Services or University Police.
Minimum Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent (such as a GED or state-issued high school equivalency certificate).

1-2 years of related experience preferred, or an equivalent combination of training and customer service experience.

Communicate clearly and empathetically with patrons and colleagues.

Preferred Qualifications

- Familiarity with Alma, ILLiad, Odyssey, and OCLC's WorldShare database.
