Job Summary:
To support the Associate Dean for Mentoring and Advising and the Assistant Dean for the First-Year and Second-Year Experience in the administration, coordination, assessment, and reporting of Furman's signature Pathways Program in support of the university's strategic vision. The Pathways Program Coordinator will also engage directly in advising activities.

Job Description:
Responsibilities
1. Support the ongoing development of the Pathways Program curriculum, in close collaboration with the Associate Dean for Mentoring and Advising. Tasks include:
a. Working with campus partners to develop and refine modules to reflect the curriculum set by the academic advising committee
b. Maintaining and revising lesson plans, reflection assignments, and other supporting materials (e.g., individualized experience opportunities for year 2)
c. Coordinating updates of video content used within the curriculum
d. Ensuring all course materials are ADA compliant and meet accessibility resource guidelines
2. Coordinate advisor training for the Pathways Program, in collaboration with the Associate Dean for Mentoring and Advising and the Assistant Dean of the First-Year and Second Year Experience. Tasks include:
a. Planning and logistics for training workshops in advance of each semester and lunch and learn sessions throughout the academic year, including coordinating presenters, catering, and supporting materials (i.e., binders and electronic materials)
b. Facilitation of sessions during workshops and the facilitation of make-up trainings for advisors who are unable to attend individual training sessions
c. Tracking of attendance at training sessions
3. Coordinate program logistics throughout the semester. Tasks include:
a. Arranging schedule of guest facilitators for Pathways Program classes (e.g., strengths)
b. Coordinating coverage for advisors who need to miss individual sessions
c. Explaining guidelines and procedures for requesting course activity funds and tracking these funding requests for individual course sections to support activities within each Pathways Program class
d. Assisting with the recruitment of Pathways Program advisors, including presentations and tracking of advisor interest
e. Coordinating appreciation events and recognition for advisors and peer mentors
4. Facilitating work of Pathways Program advisors. Tasks include:
a. Creating initial Moodle pages for advisors
b. Creating and disseminating weekly communications with Pathways Program advisors to ensure they are aware of campus events, reminders, updates
c. Collecting and disseminating attendance/participation records for modules that are out of class or require external completion records (e.g., academic integrity quiz completion; attendance at webinars and out of class events) to advisors
5. Peer Mentor Coordination and Support, in collaboration with the Assistant Dean for the First-Year and Second-Year Experience. Tasks include:
a. Serving on the Peer Educator/Mentor Institute Planning Group
b. Assisting with the implementation of the annual Peer Educator/Mentor Institute including delivery of Institute workshops
c. Assisting with Pathways Program Peer Mentor recruitment and selection
d. Assisting with Pathways Program Peer Mentor training, including the delivery of training workshops
6. Program Assessment. Tasks include:
a. Coordinating the weekly snap evaluation process for all Pathways Program classes, including the creation of Qualtrics surveys and regular dissemination of reports to Pathways Program Advisors and Peer Mentors
b. Working with the Associate Dean for Mentoring and Advising and the Office of Institutional Research to ensure that baseline and end of term assessments are administered
c. Processing award/prize payments to participants in assessment
d. Preparing reports to inform Advising committee decisions about curriculum
e. Preparing reports on the effectiveness of the program
f. Developing and maintaining materials to be used in presentations (e.g., slides, graphics)
7. Academic Advising. Tasks include:
a. Serving as a Summer Advisor to new students during Summer Orientation sessions
b. Serving as a Pathways Advisor and teach 1-2 Pathways Program sections each year
8. Promotion and Communications. Tasks include:
a. Assisting with compilation of reflections, stories and photos from the Pathways Program to be shared with University Communications for use in promotional materials
b. Creating promotional materials for distribution to prospective students, faculty, alumni, and other stakeholders that maintain appropriate branding standards
c. Maintenance of the Pathways Program web page, including annual updates of Peer Mentor bios and photos
9. Benchmarking. Tasks include:
a. Maintaining awareness of best practices for program content, assessment plans, and program evaluations of first-year and second-year experiences ensure that the Pathways Program remains aligned with, or on the leading edge, of best practices in the field
10. Professional Growth. Tasks include:
a. Annual attendance at the National First Year Experience Conference and/or NACADA Conference
b. Regular attendance at additional regional and/or national conferences related to job responsibilities as opportunities emerge
11. Performs other duties as assigned
Relationships

Regular contact and close collaboration with the Associate Dean for Mentoring and Advising and the Assistant Dean for the First-Year and Second-Year Experience
- Frequent contact with faculty, students, academic departments, and campus partners (Center for Engaged Learning, Malone Center for Career Engagement, Center for Inclusive Communities, etc.) to maintain cooperative relationships, exchange factual information and coordinate related programming

Education/Skill Requirements

Master's Degree with 1-2 years' experience working in higher education; experience with first-year and second-year programs strongly preferred but not required

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; ability to professionally represent Furman University to stakeholders and students; ability to conduct training workshops
- Strong organizational skills and ability to simultaneously execute multiple projects

Preferred Qualifications
