What are the responsibilities and job description for the Environment Texas - Reduce Plastic Pollution position at Fund for the Public Interest?
Work for microplastic-free waters in our canvassing and field manager positions.
Plastic pollution is hurting the Texas coast–littering our beaches, injuring wildlife and threatening our health. A huge source of this pollution are the tiny plastic pellets which companies use to make plastic products. Each year millions of these pellets get spilled, and the state has done little to stop it.
In order to stop these pellets from being dumped into our waterways, we need strong public support. We are hiring canvassers and field managers in our Austin office to educate the public about the issue, raise critical funds, and generate the visibility necessary to influence decision-makers.
As a canvasser you will:
- Educate and engage citizens on a campaign to make real change on pressing environmental and public interest issues
- Develop essential communication and political advocacy skills
- Build membership and raise money for nonprofit groups in your community
- Earn leadership opportunities, supervising and managing staff in the field
- Gain the experience and connections needed to launch your career in nonprofit and policy work
