School Resource Security Officer (SRO)

About the Role
We are seeking a professional, experienced School Resource Security Officer (SRO) to serve at a private school in Kissimmee, FL. The SRO plays a critical role in ensuring the safety of students, faculty, staff, and campus visitors. This position requires strong interpersonal skills, a calm demeanor, and a passion for youth safety in an academic setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide a visible, vigilant presence on campus to prevent and respond to potential security threats
- Monitor entrances, hallways, classrooms, and exterior areas during school hours
- Establish positive, supportive relationships with students and staff while enforcing school safety policies
- Respond to incidents, emergencies, or disturbances in a calm and effective manner
- Coordinate with school administrators and law enforcement if needed
- Maintain detailed security logs, incident reports, and daily activity summaries
- Assist with visitor screening, student arrival/dismissal, and campus event coverage
Requirements
✅ Minimum 2 years of experience in school, campus, or youth-focused security
✅ Valid Class D Security License (unarmed) and Class G License (armed) – required
✅ Valid driver’s license
✅ Clean background check and ability to pass a drug screening
✅ Must provide own professional duty gear (e.g., duty belt, vest, holster)
✅ Strong communication and de-escalation skills
✅ Respect for the school’s faith-based values and student-focused mission
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience as a School Resource Officer, campus safety officer, or similar
- Former law enforcement or military service
- CPR/First Aid certified
- Familiarity with Christian school culture or private education environments
- Associates Degree
