Responsibilities

- Provide crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques during urgent situations, ensuring safety for clients and staff
- Share personal recovery experiences to motivate clients and foster hope in their journey toward wellness
- Utilize motivational interviewing techniques to encourage positive behavioral changes and reinforce client motivation
- Maintain accurate documentation of client interactions using Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems while respecting confidentiality protocols
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate care plans, ensuring comprehensive support for individuals with mental health conditions and substance use disorders
- Promote harm reduction principles by educating clients on safer practices and supporting their autonomy in decision-making
- Engage with culturally diverse communities to ensure inclusive, respectful, and effective support tailored to individual backgrounds
- Advocate for client needs within the community by connecting individuals with additional resources and services
Experience
- Proven experience working with individuals experiencing substance use disorders or mental health conditions in a peer support or counseling capacity
- Strong background in crisis management, crisis intervention, and behavioral health support strategies
- Familiarity with addiction counseling, social work practices, and harm reduction approaches
- Experience working with culturally diverse populations to ensure equitable access to care
- Knowledge of motivational interviewing techniques and recovery peer support principles
- Ability to share personal recovery experiences responsibly while maintaining professional boundaries
- Proficiency in using Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems for documentation and client tracking
- Excellent communication skills for client engagement, client advocacy, and team collaboration
- Commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality in accordance with privacy regulations
