Position Overview
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Registered Nurse (RN) to join a Behavioral Health Services team within a community-based hospital setting. This role is ideal for an RN who is passionate about supporting individuals experiencing mental health and/or substance use challenges in a close-knit, patient-centered environment.
The RN will play a key role in delivering high-quality care, supporting crisis stabilization, and collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to promote patient safety, recovery, and overall well-being.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care to patients with behavioral health and/or substance use disorders
- Conduct comprehensive assessments, including mental status exams and risk evaluations
- Administer medications and monitor therapeutic responses, including psychotropic medications
- Develop and implement individualized care plans in collaboration with providers and care teams
- Monitor patient behavior and provide timely interventions, including de-escalation techniques
- Maintain a safe, supportive, and therapeutic environment for patients and staff
- Accurately document patient care and progress in EMR systems
- Collaborate closely with physicians, therapists, case managers, and other clinical staff
- Educate patients and families on treatment plans, medications, and coping strategies
- Ensure compliance with hospital policies, state regulations, and patient safety standards
Required Qualifications
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) license (New Hampshire or compact state)
- Minimum 1 years of nursing experience (behavioral health or psychiatric experience preferred)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
- Strong clinical assessment skills and ability to respond effectively in crisis situations
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in inpatient behavioral health, psychiatric units, or emergency department settings
- Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) or similar de-escalation training
- Familiarity with EMR systems (Epic, Cerner, or similar)
- BSN preferred
