Position Overview:
The Tier 1 Forklift Operator is responsible for operating powered industrial equipment to transport materials within the distribution center. This role focuses on safely loading and unloading trailers, as well as accurately placing inventory in designated warehouse locations. Attention to detail is critical when inspecting incoming and outgoing shipments.
Reporting To:
Tier 3 Lead Forklift Operator / Senior Supervisor
Key Responsibilities:
- Work closely with team members to follow instructions and coordinate daily tasks
- Safely operate forklifts and material handling equipment
- Move, stack, and organize inventory in assigned storage areas
- Pick and build mixed pallets as needed
- Use RF scanners and warehouse systems to track inventory
- Verify shipment accuracy by reviewing packing lists and documentation
- Inspect loads for damage or discrepancies
- Assist with occasional manual picking duties
- Stay alert to safety risks and maintain a hazard-free workspace
- Perform routine forklift inspections and basic maintenance checks
- Wrap, band, and prepare pallets for shipment
- Follow all company safety policies and procedures
- Support inventory counts and audit activities when necessary
- Complete additional duties as assigned
Skills & Qualifications:
- Ability to understand and follow both written and verbal instructions
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Basic math and counting abilities
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently
- Comfortable in a fast-paced warehouse setting
- Experience using RF scanning equipment preferred
- High School Diploma or GED required
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift up to 40 pounds occasionally
- Capable of standing for extended periods
- May require bending, kneeling, crouching, or climbing
