Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented Cost Accountant to join an Operations Finance team supporting a manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for cost analysis, inventory reconciliation, journal entries, and month-end close activities, while partnering cross-functionally to improve financial processes and reporting accuracy.
Responsibilities
- Assist with month-end close, including preparation of standard and non-standard journal entries
- Analyze general ledger activity and research variances or unusual balances
- Reconcile inventory balances and investigate discrepancies
- Analyze cost variances related to material usage, purchase price, and yield
- Prepare financial reports and supporting documentation for management
- Maintain internal controls and ensure compliance with GAAP
- Identify opportunities to improve costing and reporting processes
- Support cross-training and ad hoc projects as needed
Qualifications
- 2 years of accounting or finance experience
- Working knowledge of accounting principles and cost accounting practices
- Strong analytical skills with excellent attention to detail
- Effective communication and collaboration skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
- Experience in a manufacturing or operations environment
- Proficiency in Excel (formulas, charts; macros a plus)
- Familiarity with U.S. GAAP; exposure to SOX/IFRS is a plus
