Position: Project Engineer (Mechanical) HVAC, Plumbing, Electrical
FSI is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to join our passionate, collaborative team of professionals. FSI is poised to grow, and this position would be a key pillar in helping to drive that growth.
FSI is a New York City based full-service architecture firm specializing in interior and exterior preservation, restoration, and investigation.
Successful candidates will have experience working on a variety of building related mechanical projects end to end, from inspection through execution. Candidates should be self-motivated, well rounded, and capable of multi-tasking across projects. All prospective applicants must be U.S. citizens or be eligible to work in the United States (unfortunately, we are not offering sponsorship at this time).
Candidate Qualifications:
- BS in ME, AE or equivalent from an ABET Accredited University/College
- 5-8 years of professional experience with a BS or 3 years of Professional Experience with a MS
- A PE License or EIT Certification preferred
- Experience with drafting and detailing (AutoCAD)
- Knowledge/Experience with NYC building codes & authorities having jurisdiction
- Ability to observe, evaluate, and document site conditions and compile in written reports
- Experience with field testing and measurement tools
- Well-rounded communication skills, both oral & written
- Knowledge of tangential areas of engineering is a plus
- Ability to multi-task and work alongside colleagues in a multi-disciplinary office environment
Summary of Responsibilities:
- Design and engineer building related mechanical systems in existing and new spaces
- Calculate and interpret mechanical loads to inform appropriate solutions
- Drafting (AutoCAD/Revit) of mechanical sets
- Coordination and communication with clients to understand requirements, scope out work, responding to client inquiries, and successfully delivering desired outcomes on projects
- Perform and oversee field work, such as site inspections, detailing pertinent observations, and completing/reviewing reports and drawings
