Mitigation Project Manager (PM)

Position Summary

The Mitigation Project Manager (PM) is responsible for overseeing residential and commercial mitigation projects involving water, fire, mold, and environmental losses from initial inspection through project completion. The PM will manage crews, communicate with customers and insurance representatives, write estimates, ensure quality control, and maintain company standards throughout all phases of mitigation work.

The ideal candidate must possess strong leadership skills, industry knowledge, the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, and the ability to operate efficiently in emergency response environments.

Primary Responsibilities

Project Management

• Manage water, fire, mold, and environmental mitigation projects from start to finish.
• Perform onsite inspections and determine the scope of work required.
• Develop mitigation plans and ensure projects are completed efficiently and safely.
• Monitor project progress, timelines, and drying goals.
• Conduct regular job site visits and quality control inspections.
• Ensure all work is performed in accordance with IICRC standards and company procedures.

Estimating & Documentation

• Write detailed mitigation estimates for water, fire, and mold losses using Xactimate or approved estimating software.
• Maintain accurate job documentation, moisture readings, photographs, and notes.
• Review and update estimates as project conditions change.
• Submit required documentation in a timely manner.

Crew Leadership

• Lead and manage mitigation technicians and subcontractors onsite.
• Delegate tasks and ensure crews maintain productivity and professionalism.
• Conduct daily job briefings and safety discussions.
• Ensure crews follow OSHA regulations, company SOPs, and safety procedures.
• Address performance concerns and provide coaching when necessary.

Customer & Insurance Communication

• Communicate professionally with homeowners, property managers, adjusters, and vendors.
• Provide project updates and explain mitigation processes clearly.
• Maintain a high level of customer service throughout the project lifecycle.
• Handle customer concerns and resolve issues professionally.

Program Work Management

• Understand and manage insurance program/vendor work requirements.
• Ensure compliance with SLA timelines, documentation standards, and communication expectations.
• Maintain proper file handling and adherence to program guidelines.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 2 years experience in the restoration/mitigation industry preferred.
• Strong understanding of water, fire, and mold mitigation processes.
• Experience managing crews and multiple active projects.
• Ability to inspect losses and determine appropriate mitigation scope.
• Experience writing mitigation estimates required.
• Knowledge of drying principles, containment, demolition, and equipment usage.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
• Ability to work in fast-paced emergency response environments.

Certifications & Requirements

• IICRC WRT Certification required.
• Additional certifications such as ASD, AMRT, FSRT, or OCT preferred.
• Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record.
• Ability to pass background check and drug screening if required.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Xactimate estimating software.
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus, but not required.
• Prior experience handling insurance program work preferred.
• Leadership or supervisory experience preferred.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift 50 pounds.
• Ability to work in confined spaces, elevated areas, and active construction environments.
• Ability to respond to emergency after-hours calls as needed.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, and climb for extended periods.
