The Role
FSA & Associates is seeking a proactive and detail-oriented Real Estate Attorney to support residential and commercial real estate transactions in our growing Flushing practice. This role is ideal for an attorney with New York real estate experience who can manage closings, review transaction documents, advise clients, and communicate effectively with Mandarin- and/or Cantonese-speaking clients.
Key Responsibilities
- Represent buyers, sellers, and lenders in residential and commercial real estate transactions.
- Review, draft, and negotiate contracts of sale, riders, commercial leases, closing documents, and related transaction materials.
- Review title reports, surveys, lien issues, easements, encroachments, and other title-related matters.
- Oversee or assist with NYC and New York State filings, including ACRIS, TP-584, IT-2663, FIRPTA-related documentation, and 1031 Exchange coordination, as applicable.
- Conduct client consultations and closings in English and Mandarin and/or Cantonese.
- Explain legal obligations, transaction risks, and closing procedures clearly to Chinese-speaking clients.
- Coordinate with brokers, lenders, title companies, opposing counsel, paralegals, and internal staff.
- Provide guidance to real estate paralegals and support staff as needed.
- Maintain professional standards regarding confidentiality, client service, and ethical obligations.
Required Qualifications
- Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school.
- Active license to practice law in New York State.
- Professional fluency in Mandarin and/or Cantonese required.
- Prior experience in New York residential and/or commercial real estate transactions.
- Strong understanding of real estate contracts, closings, title review, lender requirements, and NYC/Queens real estate practices.
- Excellent communication, drafting, negotiation, and client-service skills.
- Ability to work in a high-volume, fast-paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- 3 years of focused New York real estate law experience.
- Experience with Flushing/Queens real estate transactions, new construction condos, co-ops, mixed-use properties, and foreign national buyers.
- Familiarity with FIRPTA, 1031 Exchange, escrow procedures, and attorney trust/IOLA account rules.
- Existing relationships within the Queens real estate, broker, lender, or title community.
Pay: $60,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
