Responsibilities
- Develop comprehensive construction cost estimates by analyzing project plans, specifications, and bid documents using industry-standard software such as HeavyBid and Bluebeam.
- Collaborate closely with project managers, architects, engineers, and clients to understand project scope, design intent, and budget constraints.
- Conduct detailed quantity takeoffs and pricing analysis to ensure accurate bid submissions that reflect current market rates and material costs.
- Negotiate with suppliers, subcontractors, and vendors to secure competitive pricing while maintaining quality standards.
- Review contracts, change orders, and scope modifications to manage cost control throughout the project lifecycle.
- Assist in evaluating construction site conditions and integrating site-specific factors into estimates for more precise budgeting.
- Support project management teams by providing detailed estimates that inform scheduling, resource allocation, and risk assessment.
Qualifications
- Proven experience in construction estimating with a strong understanding of construction processes, materials, and labor costs.
- Proficiency in estimating software such as HeavyBid; familiarity with Bluebeam for document review is highly desirable.
- Excellent negotiation skills to secure favorable terms with vendors and subcontractors.
- Solid knowledge of construction contracts, project management principles, and cost control strategies.
- Hands-on construction site experience that provides practical insight into field operations and challenges.
- Ability to interpret complex drawings, specifications, and technical documents accurately.
