SUMMARY:
In this position, you will be responsible for planning and designing cabinet layouts for residential, commercial, or other interior spaces. This role focuses specifically on cabinetry design that is practical, aesthetically appealing, and aligned with the intended use of space. The Cabinet Designer works closely with clients, internal teams, vendors, and other project partners to create cabinet designs that meet budget, space, functionality, and design objectives.
OVERVIEW OF YOUR DAILY TASKS:
- Develop cabinet design concepts that are functional, visually appealing, and aligned with project requirements
- Confer with clients and internal stakeholders to determine cabinet design needs, budget, style preferences, and space limitations
- Prepare cabinet layouts and design plans for client review and approval
- Estimate material requirements and project costs related to cabinetry
- Select cabinetry materials, finishes, hardware, and related design elements
- Coordinate with vendors, fabricators, installers, and other project partners to support production and installation
- Collaborate with architects, builders, and internal teams regarding space layout and cabinet placement
- Use drawing, drafting, and design software or planning techniques to prepare and communicate cabinet concepts
- Review plans and specifications to ensure cabinet designs meet project requirements
- Monitor project progress and assist in resolving moderately complex design or installation issues
- Provide guidance, coaching, and support to less experienced team members as needed
SKILLS/EXPERIENCE TO HELP YOU SUCCEED IN THIS ROLE:
- Solid working knowledge of cabinet design principles, space planning, and drafting techniques
- Ability to balance aesthetics, practicality, and client objectives in cabinetry solutions
- Strong communication and client relationship skills
- Ability to estimate materials, costs, and project requirements accurately
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Ability to handle moderately complex issues and refer more complex matters to higher-level staff as appropriate
- Proficiency in design, planning, and presentation techniques
- Bachelor's degree preferred
- Typically requires 2 to 4 years of related experience
