Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Pharmacy Technician Supervisor/Automation role based at Frye Regional Medical Center in Hickory, NC. The Pharmacy Technician Supervisor/Automation is responsible for overseeing pharmacy technicians’ daily workflow, including medication preparation, dispensing support, and compliance with hospital policies and regulatory standards. This role supervises and optimizes automated dispensing systems and other pharmacy automation, ensuring accurate system configuration, proper maintenance, troubleshooting, and effective use to support safe and efficient medication distribution. Responsibilities include managing inventory levels, monitoring medication usage patterns, coordinating ordering and restocking, and helping to minimize waste and shortages. The supervisor trains, coaches, and schedules pharmacy technicians, promotes excellent customer service to patients, nurses, and providers, and collaborates with pharmacists and other healthcare professionals to support safe medication practices. The role also involves maintaining accurate documentation, assisting with audits and quality improvement projects, and supporting performance metrics related to automation and technician productivity.

Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience with pharmacy operations and medication management, including working knowledge of prescriptions and pharmacy workflows.
- Hands-on experience supervising or working closely with pharmacy technicians, with the ability to lead, train, and support a diverse team.
- Strong skills in inventory control, including ordering, stocking, cycle counts, and managing medication storage within automated systems.
- Commitment to high-quality customer service when interacting with patients, families, nurses, providers, and colleagues.
- Experience with pharmacy automation and medication dispensing technologies; ability to troubleshoot and optimize automated systems.
- Current pharmacy technician registration or certification as required by North Carolina; national certification (e.g., PTCB) preferred.
- Previous hospital or health-system pharmacy experience strongly preferred, especially in a supervisory or lead technician capacity.
- Solid organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills, with attention to detail and adherence to safety and regulatory standards.
