Position Summary

The Incoming Quality Inspector is responsible for ensuring that all incoming materials components, and parts meet established company quality standards and specifications before being released to production. This role performs inspections, testing, documentation, and communication of quality results while supporting supplier quality, production efficiency, and continuous improvement initiatives.


Key Responsibilities

  • Inspect incoming materials, components and parts to verify compliance with engineering drawings, specifications, purchase requirements, and established quality standards.
  • Performs dimensional and visual inspections using precision measurement tools and equipment, including calipers, gauges, micrometers, and other inspection instruments
  • Identify defects, dimensional variations, surface or finish issues, and other conditions that may result in non-conforming products
  • Conduct requires tests and measurements to evaluate material and component quality and determine conformance to specifications
  • Accurately document inspection results and maintain detailed quality records for traceability, supplier communication, and compliance purposes
  • Prepare Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) for defective or non-conforming materials and coordinate with suppliers, production, engineering and quality teams to support timely resolution
  • Communicate inspection findings and quality concerns to production supervisors, engineering personnel, and quality management
  • Support corrective and preventive actions by providing accurate inspection data and identifying recurring quality issues
  • Calibrate, verify, and properly maintain inspection equipment to ensure measurement accuracy and reliability
  • Monitor production processes and material flow to help prevent non-conforming materials or products from entering production
  • Train and support production personnel on quality control procedures, inspection requirements, and applicable quality standards
  • Participate in internal and external audits, supplier quality activities, and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Follow all company safety, environmental, waste management, and quality policies and procedures
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe inspection and work environment


Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; an associate or bachelor’s degree in engineering, manufacturing, quality management, or a related field is preferred.
  • Previous experience in manufacturing, production, quality control, inspection, or a related technical environment is preferred
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to identify defects, deviations, and potential quality concerns
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret inspection data and determine product conformity
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, specifications, and other technical documentation
  • Working knowledge of quality standards, inspection methods, measurement techniques, and applicable industry requirements
  • Familiarity with ISO standards or other industry-specific quality systems is preferred
  • Proficiency with precision measurement tools such as calipers, micrometers, gauges, and related inspection equipment
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with production, engineering, purchasing, suppliers, and quality teams
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and maintain accurate records in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
  • Quality-related certifications, such as ASQ Certified Quality Inspector (CQI) or Certified Quality Engineer (CQE), are a plus
