The Accounting Manager leads and mentors accounting staff, manages day-to-day accounting operations, ensures accurate and timely financial reporting and regulatory compliance, oversees month-end and year-end close processes, and maintains a strong internal control structure. This role also supports manufacturing cost accounting by overseeing inventory valuation, standard cost maintenance, cost center review, production variance analysis, and financial reporting that helps management understand product costs and operating performance.
Requirements:
· Financial Reporting: Supervising the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements (income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements).
· Team Supervision: Managing, mentoring, and directing accounting staff, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and accountants.
· Month-End & Year-End Closures: Overseeing the financial close process to ensure transactions are recorded accurately; account reconciliations are performed timely and reconciling differences are identified and adjusted as necessary.
· Compliance & Audits: Ensuring adherence to U.S. generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP). Supporting internal and external financial audits.
· Internal Controls: Establishing, maintaining, and enhancing internal accounting procedures and workflows to safeguard company assets, mitigate errors, irregularities and inefficiencies and prevent fraud.
· Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s): Prepare, maintain, and disseminate standard operating procedures for key accounting, cost accounting, inventory, financial reporting, and internal control processes. Ensure procedures are accurate, current, clearly documented, communicated to appropriate stakeholders, and consistently followed to support compliance and process standardization.
· Budgeting & Forecasting: Assisting higher management (such as the Financial Controller or CFO) with budget preparation, variance analysis, and cash flow management.
· Cost Accounting and Inventory: Oversee cost accounting activities for manufacturing operations, including inventory valuation, standard cost maintenance, purchase price and production variance analysis, work-in-process review, and cost of goods sold reporting. Partner with operations, purchasing, and supply chain teams to analyze cost drivers, improve cost visibility, support cycle count and physical inventory processes, and provide management with actionable insights on product margins, cost center performance, and manufacturing efficiency.
