Position Overview
FRONTIER Building Corporation is seeking a detail-oriented and highly analytical Estimator to join our Preconstruction team. The Estimator plays a critical role in the success of our projects by preparing accurate budgets, cost estimates, and bid proposals that reflect both the scope of work and our company’s commitment to precision, integrity, and client service. This position requires strong technical knowledge of construction means and methods, as well as the ability to collaborate with project managers, architects, engineers, and subcontractors to ensure reliable pricing and risk assessment.
Key Responsibilities
- Preconstruction and Budgeting o Prepare conceptual, schematic, design development, and GMP estimates. o Develop detailed take-offs, quantity surveys, and cost breakdowns across all CSI divisions. o Identify value engineering options and alternatives to enhance cost efficiency without compromising quality.
- Bid Management o Solicit, review, and analyze subcontractor and vendor proposals. o Ensure bids are complete, comparable, and aligned with project documents. o Maintain subcontractor database and support ongoing prequalification efforts.
- Project Support o Collaborate with Project Managers and Superintendents during hand-off to ensure a seamless transition from preconstruction to construction. o Assist in scope clarifications, buyout, and change order pricing throughout the project lifecycle. o Evaluate site conditions, logistics, and potential risks to incorporate into estimates.
- Process and Reporting o Maintain estimating templates, historical cost data, and cost catalogs. o Track and report on estimate accuracy, bid performance, and cost drivers.
o Provide executive summaries, variance reports, and risk assessments for leadership review.
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or related field (preferred). • 3–7 years of relevant estimating experience with a General Contractor, Construction Manager, or Developer. • Proficiency with estimating software (e.g., Procore Estimating, Sage Estimating, Plan Swift/On-Screen Takeoff, Bluebeam, or similar) and Microsoft Excel. • Strong understanding of construction drawings, specifications, and building systems. • Excellent communication, negotiation, and organizational skills. • Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
