Position Overview
We are seeking a Family Medicine or Internal Medicine Physician for a full-time locum tenens assignment at a VA Community-Based Outpatient Clinic (CBOC) in Cookeville, Tennessee.
This is a 100% outpatient primary care position serving military veterans in a structured clinic setting with a manageable daily patient volume.
Schedule & Patient Volume
- Monday–Friday
- 8:00 AM–4:30 PM
- 10–12 patients scheduled per day
- 100% outpatient primary care
- No inpatient responsibilities
Assignment Details
- Preferred commitment of 9–12 months
- A 6-month commitment may be considered for the right physician
- Requested start date of January 1, 2027
- VA credentialing may take up to 3 months
- Travel and lodging may be provided with client approval
- Open to locum tenens, locum-to-permanent, and direct-hire candidates
Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive outpatient primary care to an adult veteran population
- Perform routine physical examinations and health assessments
- Diagnose and manage acute and chronic medical conditions
- Order and interpret appropriate diagnostic testing
- Develop and manage individualized treatment plans
- Provide preventive care and patient education
- Maintain accurate and timely medical documentation
- Collaborate with the clinic's interdisciplinary healthcare team
Qualifications
- MD or DO degree
- Board Certified or Board Eligible in Family Medicine or Internal Medicine
- Active, unrestricted Tennessee medical license required
- Current DEA registration
- Current BLS certification
- Ability to meet VA credentialing and privileging requirements
