What are the responsibilities and job description for the Vice President of Technology position at Front Light Building Company?
Vice President of Technology
Front Light Building Company | Family of Companies
Front Light Building Company is a fast-growing family of companies focused on residential homebuilding, development, and construction innovation. We are building an integrated, forward-thinking organization where technology plays a central role in driving operational excellence, scalability, and customer experience.
The Opportunity
Front Light Building Company is seeking a Vice President of Technology to lead the design and development of the organization’s technology ecosystem. This is a highly hands-on leadership role suited for a “player-coach” who thrives in entrepreneurial environments and can balance strategic leadership with direct execution. The Vice President of Technology will serve as the architect of the company’s digital infrastructure, helping transition the organization from fragmented tools to a fully integrated, scalable platform that supports the business from land acquisition through home delivery.
Key Responsibilities
The Vice President of Technology will lead the evaluation, selection, implementation, and optimization of a construction-focused ERP system, ensuring it aligns with cross-functional business operations including purchasing, estimating, scheduling, and accounting. This role will be responsible for mapping workflows across departments to eliminate inefficiencies and ensure systems reflect operational reality, while maintaining strong internal ownership of system configurations and integrations.
In addition, the role will establish and scale the company’s data and reporting infrastructure by building automated business intelligence dashboards that deliver real-time insights into key metrics, including cycle times, cost variances, and financial performance. The VP will define and enforce data governance standards to ensure consistency, accuracy, and a single source of truth across all operating entities.
The position also plays a key role in evaluating and implementing emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence tools, automation, and construction innovations, ensuring adoption only where clear business value and return on investment are demonstrated. This includes setting governance frameworks that ensure the safe and compliant use of advanced technologies across the organization.
From an operational standpoint, the Vice President of Technology will design and oversee IT infrastructure and help desk operations to support both field and corporate teams, ensuring reliable connectivity and rapid issue resolution. The role will manage outsourced IT partners and vendors, holding them accountable to defined service levels while maintaining cost-effective technology operations.
The VP will also be responsible for establishing and maintaining a strong cybersecurity framework to safeguard company data, including implementing role-based access controls, monitoring compliance, and ensuring protection of sensitive business and customer information.
What Success Looks Like
Success in this role will be defined by the successful implementation and adoption of an enterprise technology platform, the establishment of automated and trusted reporting systems, and strong system utilization across field and corporate teams. The role will also ensure responsive IT support operations and a secure, well-governed technology environment that supports ongoing growth and scalability.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will bring more than ten years of progressive IT leadership experience, with a proven track record of leading ERP implementations or large-scale system transformations. Experience within residential construction, homebuilding, or a related industry is strongly preferred. The candidate must possess a strong technical foundation in cloud systems, business intelligence tools, and IT operations, along with the ability to lead strategically while remaining hands-on in execution.
A bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field is preferred, along with familiarity with homebuilding technology platforms and experience establishing governance frameworks for emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence.
