Full-Time Farm Assistant Manager
From Scratch Farm LLC – Johnstown, Ohio

Dates: Full-time April 2026 – October 2026

(Part-time possible starting March 2026; start and end dates flexible for the right candidate)

About Us

Founded in 2020, From Scratch Farm LLC is a 20-acre mixed market vegetable farm dedicated to producing high-quality, flavorful food while caring for the land and serving our local community. We are passionate about bringing the highest quality produce to our Central Ohio neighbors.

We use only organic-approved inputs and pesticides and start all crops from seed to maintain full traceability. We carefully select varieties for flavor and nutrition and sell through farmers markets, wholesale accounts, and CSA subscriptions. Each season, a portion of our harvest is donated to Central Ohio neighbors who otherwise would not have access to fresh vegetables.

The Role

As Farm Assistant Manager, you’ll work directly alongside the managing farm owner and gain experience in all aspects of operating a diversified vegetable farm. From seeding to harvest to sales, you’ll be involved in every step of the process. This position offers hands-on experience growing vegetable crops in greenhouse production, field plasticulture systems, and direct field production. It’s an ideal role for someone who enjoys outdoor work, problem-solving, and being part of a small, dedicated farm team.

What You’ll Do

  • Plant, harvest, wash, pack, weed, and cultivate crops
  • Lead and support an intermittent farm crew during harvests
  • Oversee irrigation, pruning, and pest management
  • Help plan harvests and organize daily workflow
  • Maintain tools, equipment, and farm infrastructure
  • Step in to manage operations when the owner/manager is unavailable
  • Represent the farm at farmers markets, including setup and sales
  • Perform other duties as assigned by farm ownership
  • Uphold farm standards for quality, safety, and efficiency

Who We’re Looking For

We prefer candidates with strong, relevant experience, but our top priority is finding the right person for our farm and team. This position is well suited for someone looking to deepen their skills in vegetable production and farm management. What matters most to us is a strong work ethic, physical ability and stamina, a positive attitude, and a willingness to learn. With the right mindset, we can teach you the skills needed to help manage a vegetable farm and succeed in this role.
