Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic, experienced, and proactive Retail Assistant Manager to oversee daily store operations, support sales growth, and lead a team toward achieving excellent customer service standards. Bellawood Farm is a unique business that includes a butcher shop, retail store, steak-house & wood-fired pizza restaurant, event venue, Air BnB, and more. The ideal candidate will possess strong management skills, retail expertise, creativity, attention to detail, and the ability to foster an inviting and positive shopping environment. This role offers an opportunity to contribute to store success while developing leadership capabilities in a niche retail setting.
Duties
- Assist in managing daily store operations, including opening and closing procedures
- Supervise and motivate sales associates to meet or exceed sales targets
- Oversee sales (in-person & online), inventory management, vendor relationships, stock replenishment, and merchandising to ensure optimal product presentation--to include meat display, beer & wine, and perishable and non-perishable products.
- Creative and thoughtful meat case display and product display cases.
- Implement marketing strategies and promotional activities to drive sales
- Handle customer inquiries, resolve complaints, and ensure high levels of customer satisfaction
- Manage payroll, cash handling, and POS transactions accurately
- Assist in hiring, employee reviews, employee orientation, training, and development programs to enhance team performance
- Manage pricing, monitor store budgets, perform retail math calculations for pricing and sales analysis
- Ensure compliance with company policies, safety standards, and operational procedures
- Maintain organized records of inventory control, bookkeeping, and administrative tasks
Experience
- Proven management experience in retail environments with supervisory responsibilities
- Strong background in retail sales, merchandising, and inventory control
- Prior experience in grocery stores with meat sales & alcohol.
- Demonstrated leadership skills with experience in team management and training & development
- Familiarity with POS systems, cash handling procedures, and retail math calculations
- Experience in budgeting, purchasing, and store management operations
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to negotiate effectively and handle phone etiquette professionally
- Organizational skills combined with time management expertise to prioritize tasks efficiently
- Knowledge of retail marketing strategies and promotional planning is desirable

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $19.00 - $23.00 per hour
