Shift Details: DAY/PM Holidays: ROTATION Weekends: EVERY OTHER TO EVERY 3RD WHEN POSSIBLE
Job Summary:
The lactation consultant/educator coordinates the lactation program for the Birth Center. This person also acts as a resource for other units with breastfeeding concerns, provides breastfeeding orientation and educational in-services for staff members and other interested individuals/groups (e.g. clinic staff); and provides community classes and education. Other duties as assigned.
EXPERIENCE DESCRIPTION:
Prior nursing experience of 3 to 5 years in mother-baby nursing is preferred.
EDUCATION DESCRIPTION:
Bachelor's degree in Nursing is required.
LICENSURE DESCRIPTION:
Requires current state of Wisconsin Registered Nurse License or a Multi-state Nursing License from a participating state in the NLC (Nurse Licensure Compact). Certification as International Board-Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC) or Certified Lactation Counselor (CLC) or Certified Lactation Specialist (CLS) is required upon hire. American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support for the Healthcare Provider (BLS) or an AHA approved equivalent is required within 90 days.
