Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and passionate Sushi Chef to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in Japanese cuisine, particularly sushi preparation, and possess a strong understanding of food safety and presentation standards. This role involves creating authentic sushi dishes, menu planning, and maintaining high-quality food service in a fine dining environment. The Sushi Chef will be responsible for delivering exceptional dining experiences through meticulous preparation, innovative presentation, and excellent culinary skills. Day and Night availability needed
Responsibilities
- Prepare a variety of sushi dishes with precision and artistry, ensuring authentic flavors and presentation standards are met
- Maintain high standards of food safety, hygiene, and sanitation throughout all kitchen activities
- Handle food preparation tasks including slicing, rolling, and assembling sushi with knife skills and attention to detail
- Ensure all ingredients are stored properly and stock levels are maintained for efficient kitchen operation
- Collaborate with kitchen staff to coordinate meal preparation and service during busy hours
- Monitor quality control to ensure consistency in taste, appearance, and portion sizes
- Assist in training junior kitchen staff on sushi techniques and food handling procedures
- Uphold the restaurant’s reputation for fine dining by delivering exceptional culinary craftsmanship
Requirements
- Proven experience in culinary roles with a focus on sushi or Japanese cuisine; fine dining experience preferred
- Strong knife skills and proficiency in food preparation techniques specific to sushi making
- Knowledge of food safety standards, sanitation practices, and proper food handling procedures
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining attention to detail
- Excellent understanding of dietary requirements related to Japanese cuisine or specific dietary needs is a plus
- Previous experience in the food industry with a focus on culinary arts or kitchen experience required
- Strong communication skills and ability to work well within a team environment
Pay: $18.00 - $25.00 per hour
