What are the responsibilities and job description for the Day/Night DSP position at Friendship Community?
Day/Night Direct Support Professional
Fulltime
Oversees the activities of the Individuals and volunteers in the routine daily operation of the home.
A. Demonstrates a respectful, professional & positive attitude that promotes service excellence to Individuals, fellow Team Members, families, and / or the general public.
B. Programming
1. Assist Residential Manager in implementing goal plans.
2. Direct communication of important information to Team Members.
3. Record Individuals activities and progress accurately on Case Notes, Active Treatment Plans, Behavior Plans, Community Contact sheets, etc.
C. Individual Care
1. Assist Individuals in daily routines through dressing, bathing, eating/feeding, toileting, exercises, etc., as needed.
2. Assist Individuals with their mobility by the use of walking aids, lifting, splints, positioning, and transferring them through safe and approved techniques up to 50 lbs. Be familiar with the use of mechanical lifts if available in the home.
3. Use equipment properly including cleaning and handling.
4. Assist the Individuals in food preparation and in kitchen duties, teaching appropriate skills.
5. Assist the Individuals in room care and general housecleaning, teaching appropriate skills.
6. Maintain ongoing knowledge and adherence to Individual’s care plan.
D. Medical
1. Report symptoms, concerns or medical observations to the Residential Manager, nurse on duty or designated agency personnel.
2. Document seizures, incidents, etc. on appropriate forms.
3. After becoming med trained, administer medications to the Individuals as prescribed.
4. Attend medical appointments, as applicable.
E. Other
1. Transport Individuals to and from activities using Friendship Community vehicles.
2. Supervise general group activities for the Individuals.
3. Deal with emergencies according to policy and On-call procedures.
4. Communicate with supervisor and other staff through the staff book.
5. Assist with the general upkeep of the home.
6. Attend Team Meetings, In-services and other required trainings. Also read the minutes of those meetings.
7. Understand and follow Friendship’s Privacy Policy Statement based on HIPAA regulations.
8. Following policies related to financial maintenance.
9. Other duties as assigned.
