Role Description
The Director of Operations is the organizational integrator responsible for ensuring that people, systems, workflows, and financial/administrative infrastructure function cohesively and effectively. Serving as a key member of the management team, the Director of Operations oversees the “business operations” of Friends of Guest House, including finance operations, human resources, technology systems, compliance coordination, administrative infrastructure, and organizational workflow design.
This role requires a leader who brings strong operations discipline, financial and accounting competency, change-management ability, and a systems mindset, ensuring excellence, stability, and efficiency across all departments.
The Director of Operations collaborates closely with the Executive Director and Program Leadership to support the organization’s multi-site residential programs, DBHDS standards, VADOC contractual requirements, and long-term strategic growth.
Qualifications
- Proven expertise in Operations Management and Budgeting to guide resource allocation and ensure organizational efficiency
- Strong Team Management and leadership abilities, with experience in supervising and mentoring staff
- Advanced Analytical Skills to assess performance data and drive improvements
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Nonprofit Management, Public Admnistration or a related field; relevant experience may be considered
- Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
- Prior experience in a nonprofit or social services setting strongly preferred
- Valid driver's license and a willingness to complete CPR/First Aid, Narcan, and other trainings after hire
