Role Description
Nature Camp Counselors implement nature-based lesson plans and lead fun, educational activities outdoors! They are the heartbeat of the camp, fostering a safe, inclusive, and engaging environment for little learners. The teacher will support social and emotional development, guide students in exploring nature, and facilitate individual and group learning. Exploration and curiosity isn't just for campers, it is something all educators at FNNS embody. This is an on-site role located in Ridgewood, NJ. Camp runs Monday through Friday with half-day and full-day options for campers throughout the summer.
About Camp at Friends Neighborhood Nature School
Fresh air, healthy movement, water play, arts and crafts, storytelling, puppetry, literacy, STEM, mindfulness, gardening, and games make Camp at Friends exactly what young children want and need during the summer months! Each week is inspired by a curricular theme that guides inquiry, and each day provides children with the chance to experience creativity, friendship, and new passions, all facilitated by enthusiastic Summer Nature Teachers.
Qualifications
- Experience working with children (camp is open to 3-6 year olds)
- Keen awareness of the natural world; Animals, plants, general ecology
- Strong communication skills to engage with children, parents, and colleagues
- A passion for nature-based education and early childhood development
- Formal education or certification in Early Childhood Education or a related field is a plus
Pay: $16.00 - $20.00 per hour
