What You’ll Do:
As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) at Friends Homes, you will provide compassionate and professional care to our residents in a long-term care setting. You’ll help foster a homelike atmosphere while ensuring clinical excellence in accordance with state regulations and community standards.
Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Administer and document medications and treatments per physician orders
- Take and record vital signs and observe/report changes in resident conditions
- Provide direct care and assist with resident ADLs as needed
- Respond to emergency and health-related calls from residents
- Supervise and direct Certified Nursing Assistants, including shift assignments and care coordination
- Participate in physician rounds, care planning, and interdisciplinary meetings
- Transcribe and follow through with new orders, maintain accurate MARs and resident charts
- Support a culture of resident choice and dignity by participating in community engagement initiatives
- Participate in on-call rotation and assist in staffing during call-outs
- Promote and maintain professional relationships with residents, families, and team members
- Maintain compliance with infection control and safety standards
- Complete incident reports, assist in quality improvement, and attend required in-services
- Current North Carolina LPN license
- Minimum 1–2 years of LPN experience (long-term care preferred)
- Current CPR certification (American Heart Association standards or equivalent)
- Strong clinical documentation and medication administration skills
- Ability to lift, transfer, and assist residents with mobility needs
- Team-oriented mindset and positive communication skills
- Willingness to work varied shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
- Experience working in a Life Plan Community or similar senior care environment
- Familiarity with person-centered care and the Household Model of long-term care
- Physical & Environmental Requirements:
- Ability to stand/walk for extended periods and assist with resident transfers
- Ability to lift over 50 lbs with support (e.g., using lifts or team assists)
- Frequent bending, reaching, pushing/pulling carts and wheelchairs
- Work environment is indoors with occasional exposure to medical equipment, resident needs, and active environments
- This position has direct exposure risks requiring Universal Precautions (Category I/II)
