The Frewsburg Central School District serves over 700 PreK-12 students housed in two buildings on separate campuses. The district encompasses 75 square miles in the southeastern portion of Chautauqua County. The district is located approximately three miles east of the City of Jamestown. The population of the school district is estimated to be 4,500. Our population is centered around the unincorporated village of Frewsburg and comprises five townships which include: Carroll, Poland, Busti, South Valley, and Kiantone.
DISTINGUISHING FEATURES OF THE CLASS: This is work of moderate difficulty involving responsibility for assisting School Bus Drivers by performing assigned routine tasks including the supervision and care of disabled passengers on a school bus. Since there are definite limits on the type and complexity of assignments, the class of School Bus Attendant differs in that respect from School Bus Monitor which usually involves duties of lesser difficulty generally requiring less specialized skills or abilities. Does related work as required.
TYPICAL WORK ACTIVITIES:
Assists Bus Driver in attending to the needs of a classified passenger(s) on the school bus during transit or loading/unloading process;
Serves pupils with a disabling condition on a school bus;
Ensures all safety practices are followed on the school bus;
Maintains order on the school bus;
May guide children safely across streets and intersections;
May help children in lower grades with wearing apparel;
May render first aid treatment, including CPR, as required by IEP.
FULL PERFORMANCE KNOWLEDGES, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND PERSONAL CHARACTERISTICS:
Good general intelligence; ability to get along well with children and command their respect; good knowledge of first aid methods; clerical aptitude; neat personal appearance; familiarity with classroom routine; good powers of observations; tact; courtesy; good judgment; physical condition commensurate to the demands of the position.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Candidates must be at least 19 years old and meet all requirements, as specified by the NYS Department of Education pursuant to 8 NYCRR Education Section 156.3, at time of appointment and during service in this classification.
SCHEDULE: 10 month student calendar position
Pay Rate: Base = $ $17.00 per hour based on experience.
