Engineering Intern (f/m/d)
Responsibilities
- Work with engineering to validate new production equipment and implement state-of-the-art projects.
- LEAN Engineering – conduct time study and develop standard work instructions for production processes.
- Work closely with robots, PLCs and new manufacturing technology.
- Provide validation support for new installation phase. Support on design, installation, and commissioning new equipment.
- Assist with the monitoring of modifications, upgrades, and troubleshoot existing processes to improve equipment reliability.
- Coordinate equipment fabrication, procurement, installation, start-up, and troubleshooting shop floor issues.
- Develop production product specifications and work instructions.
- Lead training exercises with production and maintenance on new equipment.
- Support implementation of new Industrial manufacturing software (SCADA, MES and CMMS).
- The ideal candidate is currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing, or related field), with interest in hands‑on manufacturing or plant‑based environments. Must be local to Aurora, IL, with ability to work on-site.
- Software: Exposure to mechanical design software and 3D modeling (AutoCAD and SolidWorks a plus); intermediate MS Office including Excel (Microsoft Project a plus); Industrial Manufacturing Software (Ignition, SAP - ERP, MES, and CMMS modules) a plus (not required).
- Exposure to or interest in manufacturing automation, such as AMRs/AGVs, industrial robotics (6‑axis, 3‑axis, gantry), and vision systems (experience with ML/AI is a plus but not required).
- Interest in manufacturing process flow; coursework or academic projects related to process analysis/modeling is a plus.
- Ability to read or learn to interpret electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic drawings.
- Basic analytical and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to observe, learn, and help evaluate technical situations. Interest in learning structured work procedures and following established processes. Good safety awareness, organization skills, and willingness to learn technical concepts.
- Ability to work well with and communicate effectively across different teams and levels of the organization.
Salary : $20 - $25
