Multicraft Industrial Maintenance Technologist (HVAC, Hydraulics & Pneumatics)

Freudenberg Group
Durham, NC Full Time
POSTED ON 6/21/2026
AVAILABLE BEFORE 7/18/2026
Is this you?

  • Do you read machine status lights and operator comments like a second language—and act before small signals become big failures?
  • Are you comfortable jumping from an extruder heater to a chiller, then over to a compressor or blower without missing a beat?
  • Does precision alignment, proper lubrication, and dynamic balancing feel like your reliability toolkit?
  • Do you enjoy collaborating with electrical, process, and reliability partners to decide what gets fixed, when, and why?

What you will do

  • Diagnose and prevent equipment issues by blending operator feedback, machine indications, and sound technical judgment.
  • Service and improve process equipment: blowers, chillers, compressors, boilers, pneumatic/hydraulic systems, industrial HVAC, extruders, heaters, dehumidifiers, web conveyance, winding, and slitting systems.
  • Execute reliability best practices on rotating assets through lubrication excellence, precision alignment, balancing, and routine condition checks.
  • Use Root Cause Analysis to correct systemic issues and strengthen the CMMS-driven maintenance management system.
  • Support ISO/TS quality management expectations by maintaining high equipment standards and providing feedback that protects CTQ processes.
  • Oversee utilities health: steam, compressed air, chilled water, cooling towers, exhaust fans, and related subsystems.
  • Team with engineering on equipment design, installs, startups/shutdowns, and scheduled maintenance following US and Freudenberg safety procedures and standards.
  • Model clean, organized work with strong workmanship and 5S discipline.
  • Share on-call responsibilities to support a 24/7 manufacturing environment and assist when urgent issues arise.
  • Train fellow maintenance pros to elevate safety and reliability across the team.

What you need to succeed

  • Two-year technical degree in Industrial Systems (or similar) preferred; relevant experience considered. PLC, Hydraulics, or Pneumatics certificates are advantageous.
  • 0–5 years in an industrial setting; background in extrusion, plastics, and web handling/winding is a plus.
  • Experience using a CMMS for PM tracking and corrective requests preferred.
  • Pipefitting, sheet metal, and welding exposure welcome.
  • Strong written and verbal communication; able to partner across diverse technical levels.
  • Flexibility for overtime or irregular hours to support 24/7 operations; able to join an on-call rotation.
  • Capable of obtaining Powered Industrial Truck and Aerial Lift certifications on site.

Your technical toolkit

  • Preventive maintenance planning and execution
  • Heavy equipment repair
  • 120/208/240/480 V power systems
  • Electrical troubleshooting and repair
  • OSHA 10-Hour (OSHA 10)
  • Relay testing
  • HVAC maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair
  • Pneumatic systems troubleshooting
  • Powerhouse troubleshooting
  • Boiler troubleshooting and repair
  • Broad maintenance and repair capability
  • Industrial electrical systems experience
  • EHS and workplace safety practices
  • Equipment diagnostics and troubleshooting
  • Spindle maintenance and repair
  • Machine safety inspections

Imagine this scenario

A winding line shows rising amp draw and a slight temperature increase on a gearbox. You review historical CMMS data, perform an on-the-spot vibration and alignment check, and correct a lubrication issue—averting a shutdown and protecting a critical-to-quality parameter. That’s the kind of impact you’ll make here, every day.
