Job Summary:
Freshwater Tavern, the premier dining destination inside the Terrace Bay Hotel, is seeking a talented and passionate Line Cook / Chef to join our dynamic culinary team. We are looking for an individual who thrives in a fast-paced, creative kitchen environment and is dedicated to producing high-quality, consistent, and exceptional food.
As a key player in our kitchen, you will be responsible for preparing and executing our menu items, ensuring every dish that leaves our kitchen meets the highest standards of taste and presentation. Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare and cook menu items with accuracy and efficiency, following established recipes and presentation standards.
- Set up, stock, and maintain a clean and organized station for service.
- Operate and maintain various kitchen equipment, including grills, fryers, ovens, and sauté stations.
- Ensure food quality, temperature, and freshness standards are met at all times.
- Adhere strictly to all food safety, sanitation, and hygiene regulations (e.g., proper food handling, storage, and cleaning procedures).
- Communicate effectively with fellow cooks, the Head Chef, and front-of-house staff to ensure smooth and timely service.
- Assist with inventory management, including rotating stock and minimizing waste.
- Contribute creative ideas for daily specials or potential new menu items.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a Line Cook or in a similar professional kitchen role is required.
- Strong knowledge of cooking methods, station management, and kitchen equipment.
- Ability to work efficiently and maintain composure in a high-pressure, fast-paced environment.
- Excellent attention to detail and a strong commitment to quality and consistency.
- A team-player mindset with strong communication skills.
- Must be reliable, punctual, and have a professional attitude.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required by the business.
- A culinary degree or ServSafe certification is a significant plus.
