Operations Specialist
Pay: $24.00 per hour
Job Type: Full-time
Schedule: Tuesday–Friday, 11:00 a.m.–7:00 p.m.; Saturday, 8:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m.
Position Overview
FreshFix is seeking a dependable, organized, and hands-on Operations Specialist to support our warehouse, food-packing, and delivery operations. This position works closely with the Operations Manager and plays an important role in keeping daily operations organized, safe, accurate, and on schedule.
The Operations Specialist helps supervise packing lines, prepare wholesale and customer orders, coordinate with delivery drivers, receive and organize incoming products, maintain accurate inventory, and ensure food-safety procedures are followed. This position also serves as a key holder and is responsible for completing closing procedures at the end of the day.
This is a working leadership position. The Operations Specialist must be comfortable directing employees while also stepping in to pack orders, pull products, load vehicles, organize inventory, and resolve day-to-day operational issues as needed.
Key Responsibilities Packing-Line Supervision
- Help set up and manage daily packing lines.
- Assign tasks to warehouse associates and provide clear direction throughout the shift.
- Supervise packing teams that typically consist of two to five employees.
- Monitor packing accuracy, productivity, organization, and food-safety practices.
- Step in and work directly on packing lines when additional support is needed.
- Help train warehouse employees on packing procedures, order accuracy, and proper product handling.
Wholesale and Customer Order Preparation
- Review FreshFix invoices and order documents.
- Accurately pull products for wholesale, retail, and special-project orders.
- Label, organize, and stage completed orders for delivery.
- Train warehouse staff to read invoices and correctly pull and stage products.
- Check completed orders for missing, damaged, incorrect, or improperly labeled items.
- Help ensure orders are completed accurately and on schedule.
Delivery and Route Support
- Assist drivers with the loading and unloading of delivery vehicles.
- Confirm that products are organized and staged for the correct delivery routes.
- Communicate with drivers throughout the day regarding route progress or operational issues.
- Help resolve problems such as missing products, incorrect orders, delivery questions, or vehicle concerns.
- Check delivery vehicles at the beginning and end of the day and report any problems to management.
- Provide additional route or delivery support during emergencies when needed.
Inventory Management
- Assist the Operations Manager and food-purchasing staff with weekly and monthly inventory counts.
- Maintain accurate inventory records for retail, wholesale, and special-project products.
- Complete inventory sheets and report discrepancies or concerns to management.
- Monitor expiration dates and identify products that need to be used, transferred, credited, or removed.
- Ensure products are properly rotated using first-in, first-out practices.
- Help maintain an organized warehouse, cooler, freezer, and product-storage areas.
- Assist with inventory updates in FreshFix’s inventory-management system.
Receiving
- Be available for scheduled vendor deliveries to the FreshFix facility.
- Receive incoming products and compare deliveries against invoices and FreshFix purchase orders.
- Verify that product quantities, items, and condition are accurate.
- Identify shortages, substitutions, damaged products, or invoice discrepancies and communicate them to management.
- Complete and properly file receiving paperwork.
- Check applicable products into the inventory-management system.
- Put away and rotate incoming products promptly and in the correct storage areas.
Food Safety and Sanitation
- Serve as a food-safety lead during warehouse and packing operations.
- Train and remind employees about proper handwashing, glove use, sanitation, allergen awareness, and cross-contamination prevention.
- Ensure packing surfaces and equipment are cleaned and sanitized before, during, and after use.
- Conduct and document daily cooler and freezer temperature checks.
- Report temperature concerns, damaged products, sanitation issues, or other food-safety risks to management.
- Stay informed about FreshFix food-safety procedures and help ensure they are consistently followed.
Closing and Facility Responsibilities
- Serve as a facility key holder.
- Follow all established end-of-day and closing procedures.
- Check with drivers to confirm that routes have been completed and that vehicles have returned.
- Conduct routine facility and safety checks before leaving.
- Confirm that products are stored appropriately and refrigeration equipment is operating properly.
- Ensure the warehouse, coolers, freezers, offices, and delivery vehicles are secured.
- Report unresolved operational, safety, inventory, or vehicle concerns to management.
Required Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in warehouse operations, food distribution, logistics, order fulfillment, or delivery operations.
- Experience supervising packing lines or warehouse employees.
- Experience with inventory counts, product rotation, receiving, and purchase orders.
- Familiarity with food-safety procedures and temperature-controlled products.
- Experience using inventory-management, warehouse-management, or order-processing software.
