Job Summary
This position provides intake, supervision and supportive services to clients of Fresh Start Emergency Shelter, Inc. during the evening hours and occasional overnight.
Qualifications
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work with little supervision in fast-paced environment
- Ability to exercise independent judgment and decision-making skills
- Ability to cope with potentially angry and defensive clients
Requirements
- Must be able to work nights (5:00-11:00pm) weekends and holidays
- Must attend monthly staff meetings in person or by Zoom or Teams
Salary & Benefits
- $12.00 per Hour

Primary Duties
- Enforce all Shelter policies, including House Rules, Admission and Dismissal Procedures
- Interact with clients in constructive manner while maintaining professional boundaries
- Maintain the confidentiality of all clients
- Read and properly fill out all client forms with clients upon intake
- Maintain appropriate records of events and client interactions
- Assign rooms and safely secure clients' property in designated areas
- Retrieve any necessary supplies for clients in timely manner
- Perform checks throughout the shift to ensure safety and security of the facility and clients
- Read and complete case notes on each client at the start and conclusion of every shift
- Complete incident reports and consultation forms as indicated in evening/night staff procedures
- Participate in staff briefings at the start and conclusion of every shift
Physical Demands & Work Environment
- Must be able to cope with stress brought about by working in a fast-paced environment responding to nightly client crises
- Must be able to exercise independent judgment in a fast-paced environment
- Must be able to lift objects weighing up to 30 pounds on occasion
- Must be able to walk up and down stairs without assistance
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $12.00 per hour
