1st Shift: 5:00PM to 3:30AM, Monday to Thursday

Pay Rate: Competitive base of $22.15 per hour

General Summary: Tends machine that performs one or more packaging functions such as press operation, marking, labeling, packing, or wrapping products by performing the following duties.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Starts machine and observes operation to detect malfunctions of machine. Stops machine and reports malfunction to supervisor.
• Makes major adjustments such as opening chutes, adjusting formers for finseal accuracy, adjusting wrapper temperatures, adjusting press weights and pressure settings.
• Inspect finished product to ensure that product is packaged according to specifications.
• Feeds products to conveyors, hoppers, or other feeding devices, and unloads packaged products.
• Replenishes packaging supplies such as packaging film, boxes, cartons, tape, ink, or labels.
• Mounts packaging film on spindles for wrapper feeding devices.
• Demonstrate proficiency in all 9 packaging positions.
• Supports Company’s goals and values.
• Must be willing to work non-standard and extended hours as needed.
• May be required to perform other duties as requested, directed, or assigned.
  
  

Required Skills & Abilities

• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide.
• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  
  

Required Education And/or Experience

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
• Or one to three months’ related experience and/or training
• Or equivalent combination of education and experience
  
  

Working Conditions

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to walk and talk or hear. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 20 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
