Purpose of Position:
Del Monte Foods is the Foods Division of Fresh Del Monte, a global grower, producer and marketer of fresh, value-added, and shelf-stable produce. We are currently seeking a Del Monte Foods in Plover, Wisconsin is hiring Seasonal Agricultural Research Plot Attendants to support greenhouse operations, field research activities, crop monitoring, data collection, planting, harvesting, and agricultural research projects throughout the growing season. This position provides students and seasonal employees with hands-on exposure to agricultural research, crop development, greenhouse operations, and field trial activities in a professional agricultural environment.

Seasonal Agricultural Research Plot Attendants support agricultural research operations involving greenhouse activities, nursery operations, crop planting, harvesting, data collection, and research trial support. Employees in these positions assist with maintaining research plots, documenting agricultural trial results, supporting crop evaluations, and assisting research staff with daily greenhouse and field operations.
Accountabilities:
This role is designed to provide seasonal employees and students with exposure to agricultural research, greenhouse operations, crop science, and field-based agricultural activities in a safe and structured work environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Employees may perform duties in one or more operational areas, including:
Snap beans
Sweet corn
Peas
Disease nurseries
Virus plots
Insecticide research trials
Crop evaluation and harvest studies
Greenhouse and nursery operations
Employees may perform duties in on or more agricultural research support areas:
Plant, maintain, harvest, and monitor agricultural research plots and greenhouse crops
Collect, record, and organize research data related to crop trials and agricultural studies
Assist with greenhouse, nursery, and field operations involving snap beans, sweet corn, peas, and related crops
Support crop evaluations, harvest measurements, disease monitoring, and research trial activities
Maintain accurate written and computerized records using spreadsheets, forms, or research databases
Assist with watering, weeding, plot maintenance, and general agricultural housekeeping activities
Package, sort, or prepare seeds, plants, or harvested samples for research purposes
Assist with field preparation and research area organization
Follow agricultural research procedures and instructions provided by research staff or supervisors
Maintain clean and organized greenhouse, nursery, field, and work areas
Follow company safety policies, agricultural safety requirements, and workplace procedures
Report unsafe conditions, equipment concerns, or operational issues to leadership
Support additional agricultural research activities as assigned
Training:
On-the-job training is provided for all assigned work areas.
Seasonal Incentives:
To support employees during our peak pack season, Del Monte Foods offers select incentives for eligible seasonal workers. These incentives are designed to assist with temporary relocation and seasonal work demands and may include:
Housing assistance or housing incentives
Transportation allowance
Sanitation Bonus (for eligible employees)
These incentives are available only during the active pack season (typically June through early October) and are subject to eligibility requirements, availability, and business needs. Incentives may be modified or discontinued at any time based on operational conditions.
Youth Employment & Minor Work Restrictions:

This position may employ individuals who are 16 or 17 years of age in accordance with Wisconsin child labor laws and company policies. Employees under the age of 18 are assigned only to approved agricultural research, greenhouse, nursery, and field support activities that comply with applicable work restrictions and safety requirements.
Minor employees:
Are not assigned to hazardous manufacturing or production operations
Are not permitted to operate prohibited equipment or perform restricted duties
Are not assigned to production facility processing operations
Must comply with all state and federal restrictions regarding hours worked, break requirements, and permitted job duties
May have scheduling limitations during school periods in accordance with applicable regulations
Receive required safety training and supervision appropriate to assigned work activities
Del Monte Foods partners with local educational and agricultural programs, including the Stevens Point Area Senior High (SPASH) agricultural education program, to provide students with safe and valuable agricultural work experience opportunities.
Seasonal Employment Information:
Seasonal employment generally begins in spring and may continue through late summer or fall based on agricultural research schedules, crop conditions, and operational needs.
Schedules may include:
Day shift assignments
Weekday schedules
Limited weekend work based on agricultural or weather conditions
Flexible schedules during planting, harvest, or peak research periods
Schedules for employees under 18 years of age will remain compliant with all applicable youth employment regulations and company policies.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
Ability to work in greenhouse, nursery, field, and outdoor agricultural environments
Ability to work in varying weather conditions including heat, humidity, wind, or rain
Ability to safely work around tractors, agricultural equipment, conveyors, and research tools
Ability to walk on uneven terrain, ascend/descend stairs or field surfaces, and maneuver safely throughout agricultural areas
Ability to perform repetitive physical activities including bending, kneeling, lifting, carrying, hoeing, weeding, or harvesting
Ability to wear required PPE throughout assigned shifts
Required PPE
Required personal protective equipment may include:
Hearing protection where required
Eye protection where required
Hair restraint when entering designated operational areas
Gloves as necessary
Slip-resistant or steel-toed footwear recommended
Additional PPE required by assigned task, equipment, or agricultural activity
Minimum Skills Required:
Ability to safely work in greenhouse, nursery, and outdoor agricultural environments
Ability to follow written and verbal instructions accurately
Ability to maintain productivity and attention to detail during assigned tasks
Ability to work cooperatively with co-workers, supervisors, and research staff
Ability to maintain accurate written records and research documentation
Ability to work outdoors in varying weather and environmental conditions
Ability to safely walk, stand, bend, kneel, lift, carry, push, or pull materials throughout assigned shifts
Ability to learn basic agricultural research procedures and data collection methods
Ability to work independently with limited supervision
Reliable attendance and dependability throughout the seasonal employment period
An equivalent combination of education, agricultural experience, greenhouse work, landscaping, gardening, farming activities, school agricultural programs, or related outdoor work experience that demonstrates the ability to successfully perform the essential functions of the position may be considered
Interest in agriculture, crop science, greenhouse operations, or agricultural research
Participation in agricultural education, FFA, or related school programs
Basic computer skills including Excel or spreadsheet use
Previous greenhouse, farming, gardening, landscaping, or agricultural experience
Experience working outdoors in field environments
Bilingual communication skills are a plus
