Freeman|Wine, LLC, a small law firm in Mt. Pleasant, is looking for a full-time Legal Assistant/Paralegal to assist two attorneys practicing primarily in the areas of estate planning and estate administration. Ideal candidate will have exemplary organizational skills, accuracy, and ability to multi-task. Our firm values individual responsibility, personal productivity, and dependability.
The targeted start date for this job is January 2, 2026, but an earlier start date may be considered for qualified candidates.

Job responsibilities will include:
-E-mail, phone communication, and in-person meetings with clients.
-Primarily assisting attorneys with estate planning and estate administration work, but also may include some work in bankruptcy and family law.
-Assisting with the drafting of estate planning documents and other legal documents to include pleadings and correspondence.
-Preparing real estate deeds.
-Assisting attorneys with workflow, follow up, and case management.
-Manage office calendars and deadlines.
-Using the firm case management system (Clio).
-Copying, mailing, e-mailing, scanning, and filing documents.
-Proofreading documents.
-Assisting with record keeping and firm billing.
-Assisting with the creation of and implementation of streamlined office systems to increase efficiency.
Requirements and Criteria:
-High School Diploma; some college experience is preferred but not required;
-Minimum of one year’s work experience in any field;
-Experience in an office setting is preferred and law office experience is strongly preferred;
-Experience in estate planning is preferred but not required;
-Ability to learn quickly, take direction well, and pay close attention to detail;
-Ability to remain calm when in stressful situations;
-Strong professional communication skills;
-Punctuality and dependability;
-Experience using Microsoft Word and Excel;
-Strong computer competence and proficiency with technology;
-Ability to work independently and be proactive;
-Valid Driver’s License; and
-Two references from employers or if you have only worked in one place, one reference from an employer and one personal reference.
