Job Overview
An exciting opportunity has arisen to work jointly across the acute and diabetes services at Newcastle Upon Tynes Hospital NHS Trust. This temporary, part-time post will be based at the Freeman Hospital and will include:
We are looking for a person with an interest and/or experience in the areas of diabetes, nutrition support and tissue viability. This post will sit within well established teams and will be supported by specialist dietitians and the associated MDTs. We are eager to evaluate the outcomes of the preventative element of this role and the post holder will be mentored in the gathering and evaluation of data collected throughout the timeframe of the post.
This is a part-time post and how the working hours are spread across the week can be negotiated, however, Mondays and Fridays would be essential working days. Agile working is supported by the issue of mobile kit (laptop).

The successful candidate will be required to supervise students and support the organisation and delivery of student training placements. The role will be supported by a job plan; we actively encourage staff development as well as research / audit and continuing professional development opportunities.

- Delivers a comprehensive and effective clinical nutrition and dietetic service in acute hospital services in the specialist area/s or in the community. See appendix for in depth job details
- Provides specialist dietetic assessment, diagnosis, treatment, monitoring and management in the clinical setting and in one or more sub-specialty areas. This may include supplementary prescribing
- Acts as a source of expertise in nutrition support/education and dietetics to patients, medical staff, health care professionals, relatives, carers and all relevant agencies
- Provides expertise to Nutrition Teams and works in other multidisciplinary teams
- Delivers education and training at all levels
- Participates in team and multi-disciplinary evaluation, audit and research

Qualifications & Education
Essential criteria
- HPC UK registered dietitian
- Degree in Dietetics or Science/Nutrition Degree plus Postgraduate Diploma in Dietetics
- Evidence of specialist training or validated qualification in one or more speciality areas
- Basic counselling skills or training in cognitive behaviour therapy
- Teaching certificate
- Basic Food Hygiene Certificate or similar
- Clinical supervisory skills training

- Post registration clinical practice in general clinical dietetics
- Range of general dietetics
- Evidence of knowledge in specialty areas
- Evidence of continuous professional development
- Understands Health Professions Council Code of Conduct
