We are seeking a dynamic and proactive Dockmaster to oversee the daily operations of our marina dock facilities. As a vital leader in our team, you will coordinate vessel arrivals and departures, manage dock assignments, and ensure the safety and efficiency of all dock activities. Your expertise in rigging and mechanical systems will be essential to maintaining the integrity of docking equipment and ensuring smooth operations. Responsibilities
- Coordinate vessel arrivals, departures, and dock assignments to optimize marina flow and customer satisfaction
- Oversee the safe handling of boats during docking, undocking, and maintenance procedures
- Manage rigging operations, including securing vessels with appropriate lines and equipment
- Conduct routine inspections of dock infrastructure, including mooring systems, walkways, and mechanical components
- Maintain detailed records of vessel movements, maintenance logs, and safety inspections
- Assist with mechanical troubleshooting and basic repairs related to docking equipment and rigging systems
- Enforce safety protocols for staff and visitors, ensuring compliance with maritime regulations
- Supervise dock staff, providing training on rigging techniques, safety procedures, and operational best practices
Qualifications
- Proven experience in marina operations or a related maritime environment
- Strong mechanical knowledge with the ability to troubleshoot and perform basic repairs on rigging and docking equipment
- Familiarity with rigging techniques used in securing vessels safely at docks
- Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail in record keeping and operational planning
- Ability to work outdoors in inclement weather conditions while maintaining a high level of safety awareness
- Effective communication skills for coordinating with boat owners, crew members, and team staff
- Prior supervisory experience is preferred but not required; leadership qualities are highly valued
