Position Overview
The Parts Inspector/Finish Repair Tech performs a wide variety of tasks in a boat manufacturing facility. This role involves building and repairing fiberglass boat hulls, decks, and small parts using various tools and materials.
Essential Functions:
- Building and repairing fiberglass boat hulls, decks, and small parts using hand tools and specialty tools like gel-coat spray equipment, grinders, buffers, and drills.
- Inspecting parts and understanding fiberglass finishes or basic use of abrasives.
- Following specific job instructions and providing verbal and/or written status of part completion.
- Handling and applying solvents, paints, pastes, putty, and wax, along with proper disposal.
- Recognizing and protecting precious boat components while performing finishing duties
Diversity of thought and experiences is fundamental when imagining the unimaginable. Certain skillsets/experiences are necessary; however, others can be developed along the way.
- High School diploma or GED.
- 2-3 years of boat building experience preferred.
- Fitting/Installing experience.
- Working knowledge of hand tools.
- Ability to lift heavy objects and multi-task.
- Ability to read and understand prints and production schedules.
- Ability to work with suspended loads and heavy lifting.
- Effective interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to adapt to changing requirements in a positive and proactive way.
- Advanced proficiency with precision measuring tools and equipment, such as calipers, micrometers, and coordinate measuring machines.
- Proven ability to identify and resolve quality issues and recommend corrective actions.
- Strong ability to meticulously document inspection findings and maintain accurate records
Working Conditions:
Maintain cleanliness, ensure safety compliance to include PPE adherence, safety policy adherence, and safe behaviors and conditions. Must possess the desire and ambition to always work safely and report all hazards to their supervisor immediately.
Must understand basic terminology such as OSHA, DEP, and other regulatory agencies.
Must be able to wear required personal protective equipment where designated, including but not limited to safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, etc.
The pay range for this position is $20.50 - $23.18, hourly. The actual base pay offered will vary depending on multiple factors including job-related knowledge/skills, relevant experience, business needs, and geographic location. In addition to base pay, this position may be eligible for an annual discretionary bonus or short-term incentive program. This position is also eligible for an award target as part of Brunswick’s long-term incentive program.
