Position Summary
The Nurse Manager is responsible for providing clinical and operational leadership for the Psychiatric DPU nursing department. This position ensures that patient care is delivered in compliance with regulatory, accrediting, and facility standards while promoting a safe, therapeutic, and efficient environment.
The Nurse Manager provides direct oversight of nursing staff, coordinates daily operations, supports admissions, and serves as a key member of the facility’s leadership and Quality Improvement teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide leadership, oversight, and clinical direction to all nursing staff on the Psychiatric DPU
- Ensure safe staffing levels and compliance with scheduling and staffing protocols
- Serve as nursing administrator on-call as assigned
- Support clinical decision-making, patient care delivery, and medical staff communication
- Participate in the QAPI process, including monitoring, tracking, and analyzing nursing data
- Develop and maintain nursing schedules in a timely and compliant manner
- Collaborate with Human Resources on hiring, discipline, and termination of nursing staff
- Complete performance evaluations and support staff development
- Work closely with Intake and Service Development to facilitate timely admissions
- Maintain and document admission criteria in compliance with regulatory standards
- Participate on the Utilization Review and Treatment Team
- Serve as a clinical and operational resource to nursing, administrative, and direct care staff
- Ensure continuous survey readiness and compliance with CMS, Joint Commission, and state regulations
- Support facility projects, program development, and quality improvement initiatives
- Actively participate as a member of the facility leadership team
Required Qualifications
Applicants must hold a current, unrestricted RN license in the State of Mississippi and the following criteria:
- Bachelor’s or Associate Degree in Nursing
- Documented continuing education in psychiatric nursing
- Minimum of five (5) years of nursing experience, including three (3) years in psychiatric or mental health care
