Qualifications:
High school diploma
Knowledge of library media programs
Computer keyboarding skills, secretarial and clerical skills
Ability to operate office machines, such as typewriter, computer, dry copier, etc.
Knowledge of software used on computer
Reports To: Instructional Materials Center Director
Supervised By: Appropriate Administrator
General Duties: Assist in providing a well-organized, smooth functioning IMC environment in which
teachers and students can take full advantage of available resources. The assistant shall
also assist in providing services which help teachers instruct children through the use of
educational media.
Performance
Responsibilities:
Type and process inventory cards for all textbooks.
Unpack and check-in materials according to purchase order and verify invoices.
File catalog cards and shelf list cards for new books for teacher and student needs.
Answer phone and route incoming calls appropriately.
Maintain supplies for teacher work room.
Maintain computer list of overdue books. Send out overdue notices.
Assist teachers, students and night classes in checking out AV equipment.
Knowledge of software used on computer.
Handle maintenance problems such as bulbs, needles, extension cords, etc.
Keep inventory up to date for all AV equipment and assist in video taping needs.
Assist with opening and closing IMC and making sure equipment is returned.
Set up displays, bulletin boards, etc.
Reshelve books, vertical files, magazines, etc.
Keep inventory of textbooks, library books, paperbacks, etc.
Prepare books for rebinding and repairing of resource books.
Assist in laminating for all schools.
Respect confidentiality in all communications.
Perform other duties as may be assigned by the building IMC Director or Principal.
Present a positive image to the students, staff and residents of the FASD.
Continue to perform presently assigned duties as well as such other duties assignable within the
Board's authority, and state law, and as assigned by the administrator.
