Contract Accountant (1–3 Month Engagement)

Overview
We are partnering with a manufacturing organization seeking a Contract Accountant to support the finance team during a critical period. This individual will play a key role in account reconciliations, audit preparation, and general accounting support to ensure accuracy and compliance across financial reporting.
This is a hands-on role ideal for someone who can step in quickly, work independently, and bring structure to reconciliation and audit processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform balance sheet account reconciliations (cash, accruals, inventory, fixed assets, etc.)
- Investigate and resolve reconciling items and discrepancies
- Support month-end close activities, including journal entries and account analysis
- Assist with audit preparation, including gathering documentation and responding to auditor requests
- Ensure financial data is accurate, complete, and audit-ready
- Partner with internal teams (AP, AR, operations) to validate transactions and balances
- Help improve or document reconciliation and close processes
- Maintain organized supporting schedules and workpapers
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 2 years of accounting experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment
- Strong experience with account reconciliations and audit support
- Solid understanding of GAAP
- Experience working in ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, or similar)
- Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, data analysis)
- Ability to work independently and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience in inventory accounting or cost accounting
- Previous experience supporting external or internal audits
- CPA or CPA-track is a plus
