Key Responsibilities

As a Zoning Inspector, you will:

• Receive, investigate, and resolve complaints regarding violations of County Zoning and Subdivision Ordinances.
• Conduct on-site field inspections to verify compliance and document findings with accuracy and thoroughness.
• Prepare detailed case files and correspondence to support enforcement actions and potential legal proceedings.
• Draft criminal complaints, attend court hearings, and provide credible testimony as needed.
• Respond to public inquiries, provide guidance on zoning and planning procedures, and maintain professional communication under pressure.
• Manage the County’s Street Sign Replacement Program.
• Assist the Zoning Administrator in preparing and presenting Variance Applications before the Board of Zoning Appeals.

• 1 years of experience in code enforcement, inspection, zoning administration, planning, law enforcement, or related fields.
• Must possess a valid Driver’s License and have held it for at least 2 years
• Resilience and strong interpersonal skills to navigate difficult conversations with professionalism, confidence, and fairness.
• Exceptional customer service skills with the ability to multitask, stay organized, and highly motivated.
• Excellent note-taking and written communication skills to support case documentation and legal processes.
